3.1 Vignette - Second Attempt - Feedback appreciated.

Postby KenArquitech » Sat Sep 30, 2017 7:44 pm

Apologies for the string of posts - guess I'm the only on on the site this weekend :'D

Second attempt doing the 3.1 vignette - one question though..

Regarding the deepest duct/ceiling combo - I've been only paying attention to the corridor/lobby and the immediate rooms the section cuts through for the deepest duct (ceilings the section cuts through). Should I instead be looking for the deepest duct in the "zones" the section cuts through? Zone being the area in the ceiling that share the same slab/joist system (i.e. 20" Joints @ 5'-0" O.C.).

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind I got the duct/combo question cleared up from some heavy digging in this forum (Coach I'm sure your sick of that question). Assuming the specified ceiling height is uniform across a floor (i.e. 8'-4" EXCLUDING 2-story rooms) then you simply look for the largest combo NOT necessarily the largest Joist or Duct (of course if you find the largest joist & duct is a combo then there it is). I got tripped up on this simple concept because I have yet to do a vignette that has the largest combo governing the interstitial space not located in the immediate are of the section cut.

The top of your bearing wall footing should be aligned with the bottom of the slab.
Also, your joists should move past the exterior and bearing walls a few clicks.

Top or bottom of slab works.

A snap or two into bearing walls.

Unrelated question: Should ducts (in plenum) be pushed right up against the joists? Or should they breathe a little?

They can be anywhere between joist and light space.
