LOL. Maybe more people should ask for this to be stickied. I don't want to do it, because I feel like that comes off as a little arrogant ("oh, please sticky this one thread that I created above everyone else's"), but I won't object to others doing it for me.

Coach, can this thread be "stickied" or whatever the term is to keep it at the top of the list of threads. Lots of people find it incredibly useful.

Thanks.

Do you have a list of diagrams to study from the MEEB book by any chance?

Just wanted to add my thanks. Was going to test in 2 weeks (hadnt' paid yet tho) and now just started working on vignette...and now going to push date a bit as a colleague just failed, and i have plenty of time. This thread has been tremendously helpful so far. thanks particularly for the warnings about Dorf. I have used him to pass my last 3 vignettes with much success and i totally would have just gone with all of his suggestions if i hadnt read this thread.

If anyone is trying to decide whether to purchase the Amber Book's online seminars to help pass Building Systems, I strongly encourage you to do it. It's worth every penny. It had clean, simple, fun, and easy to understand videos that present really complicated information in an easy to digest way. Michael Ermann is a fantastic teacher.

I cannot believe that everyone must read MEEB cover to cover to pass BS..
Please let me know what's the recommended chapters and areas need to be reviewed from MEEB Book - I reviewed (7) chapters until now and afraid of wasting time keep reading and miss reviewing another sources..

Please advise.. I will appreciate it.

Thank you
Peter

I just find out that I have a PASS for BS exam!! :D The resources used were books: Kaplan and Ballast, NCARB materials, MEEB (paid attention to graphics); but for me the most useful was Amber Team Course by Michael Ermann, taken on-line, and his Amber Book with questions and explanations. Videos were very illustrative and graphics used just sticks to mind, involving your imagination. One more to go...

I learned on Friday that I finally passed my last exam, Building Systems, and I could not be more excited. I would just like to share my thoughts and praise on the insanely helpful Amber Seminar.

I had originally taken the BS exam in January and I had spent about a month and a half studying mostly Ballast and Jennys notes, as well as an ARE bootcamp course at the Center for Architecture, and of course MEEB. I went into the exam feeling fairly confident, or as confident as one can feel with these exams at least, and learned a week later that I was very weak in HVAC, plumbing and Lighting. Being that it was my last "hard" test I was pretty disappointed. I took and passed SD a month later and then found myself dreading diving back into MEEB.

I asked a few colleagues who had passed the exam recently about their preferred study materials and a few of them mentioned the Amber seminar and had nothing but good things to say. I bit the bullet and purchased the course. It was a little off putting - the idea of not even opening a book (aside from the Amber Book, or course), but I went through the course with an open mind and took the exam the day after the course ended. It is a very interesting and, in a way, easy way to study for this exam. Ideas are explained concisely and clearly and while every thing may not seem to be directly applicable at the time, it is a very well rounded set of videos that gives you the information you need to pass and doesn't waste your time with filler information. Michael keeps things interesting with graphics, animations and physical demonstrations and does an excellent job not leaving you wondering.

My point - if you want to pass BS, use the Amber Seminar.

I'm not sure if this has been posted in this thread yet but I came across this youtube video last night that was posted by NCARB a year ago:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_uCzyNR0Xg

It explains the major + minor + critical features that make up your final vignette score, which I thought was helpful. PLUS if you pause at 9:32, it'll show you what NCARB deems as the passing solution! Anyways, back to studying I go!

Thank you, corkscrewed! This is just what I was looking for to begin.

Quick question: Do you think its worth it to take a Prep Course for Building Systems?

Liberated, in my opinion, I feel like with the study materials, it's not really necessary.
