BS 4.0 Vignette - First try

Postby j8ter » Sun Feb 04, 2018 9:34 pm

Hi everyone,

Here is my first attempt at the BS 4.0 vignette. I'm not sure about the placement of the rigid duct as one of the criteria is that rigid ducts do not fit through the joists. How do you know if the duct is going through a joist? Also, is there a particular way that fire dampers should be placed in the bearing wall?

I'm testing this Saturday. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

VERY clearly failing.
Flex cannot pass through the riser shaft wall. Fatal.
Illegal rigid duct location. Fatal.
Dampers are drawn just like the ones in NCARB sample failing solution. They even point out that error.
Uneven HVAC layout in the studio and reception..
Architect's office is severely over lit.
Reception lights are incorrectly spaced and the room is over lit.
Accent light overlaps the grid.
Flex should connect to the center of the diffuser, not the edge.
Inadequate separation between supply & return in the supply closet. Min 4' separation is recommended.
Flex cannot pass through the riser shaft wall. Fatal.

Thanks, Sparky83, for your comments. Can you, or anyone else, explain where the rigid duct can cross in the horizontal direction without it fitting through a joist? I'm confused on this point since the joists seem to run in the N-S direction continuously through the plan. Also, are the accent lights in the Architect's Office placed at a correct distance from the west wall? I tried to locate them so that the 80fc falls uniformly across the whole wall.

Appreciate the help!

It's clearly spelled out in the program.

Aside from hitting grid, accent layout is fine.

Thanks, Coach! Got it...took a closer look at the NCARB exam guide sample vignette and it makes sense now.
