Vignette round 3....alternates??

Question, is it really bad if the lights are less than 1 foot from the wall? (See Architect's office) I'm thinking it's okay if it's a little overlit on 2 walls and a little underlit on the other 2 walls of a room. It balances out. Any thoughts?
Also, where can I find some alternates?
