I don't think I'm grasping this vignette really...any suggestions would be great, thanks!

angelw, I think this might help... http://are-resources.weebly.com/bs-vignette.html

1) Grilles should be supported on at least 3 sides
2) Use sketch circles to figure out the accent light levels. Review the forum for tips on accent levels
3) Somewhere I read that the short leg should point in the direction of air flow. Not sure if it really matters because the Ncarb passing solution shows what you have drawn
4) Align your diffusers with the ceiling grid
5) I have read that you need a 4' min separation between grille and diffuser.

Check out my comments on your solution as well as the link. You'll get this vignette in no time!

Good luck!

Uneven lighting in the studio. NEVER mix 2x2 and 2x4 lights in a room.
NW grille in the architect's office will fall out.
Insufficient accent lighting.
There is ZERO evidence that the direction of the damper symbol matters at all. All we know is that the long leg must be parallel to the wall.
You have a flex from the return rigid duct leading to a diffuser in reception. Not a good idea. That means you have no plenum return. Fatal.
Ducts may be placed above lights.
