Coach Need your Feedback - NCARB 4.0 SS-Vignette

Postby ramizkhoda » Wed Apr 04, 2018 6:25 pm

Coach- Attached is my attempt at the NCARB 4.0 Structural Systems Vignette. All joist spacing is at 48" o.c.

Need your feedback on:

a) Is the use of bearing walls as shown acceptable?
b) Is it okay to have interior columns not line up on the same axis/column line across from each other as shown for the interior columns in the Common Area?
c) Do I need the south-west short section of beam at the Common Area on the lower level as shown?
d) Do I need to align the decking and joists to the "Edge of Roof" for the Covered Entry or is it acceptable as shown?
e) Is the solution passable without any errors as shown?

Testing in 1 week, Thanks!!!

Yes, but I recommend not using bearing walls at all.

b) Is it okay to have interior columns not line up on the same axis/column line across from each other as shown for the interior columns in the Common Area?

Yes. A grid is not required.

c) Do I need the south-west short section of beam at the Common Area on the lower level as shown?

No. It should not be there.

d) Do I need to align the decking and joists to the "Edge of Roof" for the Covered Entry or is it acceptable as shown?

Draw everything to centerlines.

e) Is the solution passable without any errors as shown?

It's passing. The lower southwest beam is an error.

Got it. I removed the short south-west beam at the Common Area and I removed all bearing walls-am now using columns and beams. Does the attached updated version now look good without any errors?
