In the NCARB provided exam guide for SS, question #5 asks you to find the section modulus of a wide flange. I cannot seem to come up with the same answer they have. Can someone help explain how to solve the problem? Their answer is 57.3 in^3. I have attached an image of the question.

Thanks!

Part of step 2 is cover. Can you tell me what the equation is that is covered? Thank you in advance.

Yavaughn, my mistake I didn't realize that when i postes.
Step 2:
S=I/C
Section Modulus=I steel/centroid distance
I=286.66 in^4
c= 5 in
Equation
S=286.66 in^4/5 inches =57.3 in ^3

Hope this helps clarify the rest!
