Vignette - Drawing conventions

Postby STL » Mon Nov 27, 2017 12:58 pm

I've seen notes that the roof deck can be drawn continuous over several bays of joists running the same direction. Makes sense, but what about joints and beams...
1. Can joists for several bays that are spanning the same direction be drawn as one box, or should each joist span between beams be drawn separately?
2. Can beams be drawn continuously through columns? Or do the beams need to start and stop at each column (especially if the column extends to the higher roof plane above to support other beams?
Or am I overthinking it?

thank you, I am testing Thursday.

Both of these are answered in NCARB's vignette video. I forgot about this resource until I read another post.

1. NCARB says each bay of joists should be drawn separately.
2. NCARB says beams can be drawn continuously.
