Vignette Clerestory

I've come across multiple people saying that there needs to be a beam in the clerestory wall. In the practice vignette, it makes sense that the roof on North wall (clerestory wall) be supported by a beam. So isn't the clearstory in that wall already being spanned with a beam? Does that mean that they want us to add another beam in clerestory wall? Can someone please clarify what is meant when they say that there needs to be a beam in the clearstory wall?

You need a beam under (on the lower level) the clerestory. If a beam is already there (and covering the whole wall) to carry joists, you do not add another.
