I'd appreciate any feedback on my first attempt at the NCARB SS vignette--testing on May 5. This seems simple, but I feel like I could be missing something.
I limited the bearing walls are at the exterior perimeter walls. Mike's Structural guide recommends an all-steel solution, but bearing walls seemed to make sense there.
Mike also suggests that if no span limits are included, then not to follow rules of thumb for spans. I felt like it was safer to include intermediate columns to break up the 52'-8" span along the Common Room, and more economical in terms of beam size. I also drew the beams as continuous over the intermediate columns, which Mike recommends against, but not sure if NCARB differentiates between simple and continuous spans.
Thanks!
