Q: concrete coverage requirement

Postby architect23 » Wed Mar 29, 2017 11:05 am

Sample question 15 from 2012 NCARB questions states that cast in place concrete beams and columns with rebar not exposed to weather or in contact with ground should have a minimum coverage of concrete of 3/4"... shouldn't this be 1.5"? Isn't this the requirement for interior?

Yes. I believe that is question #13 on the most current NCARB study guide and they have corrected the error.

1.5" not exposed to weather
3" for concrete permanently in contact with the ground/soil
