Kaplan 500

Postby Liam's_Dad » Sun Nov 10, 2013 4:28 pm

Gearing up to start studying for this exam -- have seen that "Kaplan 500" seems to be a preferred guide/tool.

I have the Kaplan 4.0 Guide and Q&A (2009)...though it only has 471 questions/answers...Same thing?...am I missing some material?
I did a quick search to see if this has been answered and didn't find anything quickly -- though I am sure it has been asked at some point.

Thanks in advance.

I borrowed the 2009 version from a friend and just recently borrowed the 2012 from a different friend after moving. The last 90 questions in the 2012 are great practice. I wouldn't say they are critical to you passing as the majority of the book seems to be the same, but for me, doing all the practice questions I can get is how I study best.

i dont think you need to buy the new book with the 500 questions if you have the older version with 471 questions in it. i found that a lot of the questions in the kaplan 500 are variations of the same questions. i remembers going through it and thinking, "didn't i just do this question two pages ago?". i suggest you focus on a lot of different materials. if you have kaplan q&a, get ballast q&a, do the NCARB sample tests from 4.0 and 3.1 versions also. study the flashcards etc.

I passed the exam without touching Kaplan 500. So don't worry if you don't have it. Just focus on what you have and what you can get by going through some of the posts on this forum.

All the best.

Liams_Dad I had the same question you did. I was told it was the same. I have the same version you do and when I bought it the seller sent me a note there are a lot of errors and to look for the errata. I've found one with an online search but not sure it is cumulative.
