So, I was really concerned about this one, and incredibly happy that I don't have to take it again. I studied for about a month and a half, averaging around an hr a day - with extra time devoted on the weekend before the test itself. Here was what I studied:
Kaplan Study Guide: Started here. This took way too long for me tog et through - I think around 3 weeks. Way too intensive on the calculations. I ended up skimming [or skipping entirely] pages of the calcs. Probably wasn't he best choice, but I wanted to get through it, and panic was setting in.
Thaddeus videos: Watched these next. Watched them on 1.5 speed [he ends up sounding like he is talking at a normal pace] because I felt short on time. Excellent video series, would highly recommend them.
Practiced the vignette: Did this for a couple days.Got to be pretty good at it. Worth it.
Kaplan 500: After studying, I got to these questions. My version had 561 questions; I got through about 400. I read through the explanations for the ones I got wrong, and was averaging about 60%. Tended to skip tough calculation problems entirely.
Mike's NCARB question explanations: These were crucial. Helped me figure out the style of question. Mike's reasoning could also be then applied to the test.
Fema: Read portions of the Fema reference, I think it was the Structural Design for Dummies [/architects] publication. Someone called it an easy read. That person was kinda sick. I mean, it isn't dense, but it is still structural.
Thank you so much to everyone who endured my questions, and responded to my vignettes. Coach and Mike, you guys are an incredible resource. Coach, thank you especially for this forum. Four down, three [+1] to go!!
