Percentage to pass?

Postby zahzou » Thu Oct 10, 2013 6:35 pm

Hi all,

Do we know what percentage of the 125 multiple choice questions must be answered correctly to pass that portion?

It's not known for any of the exams. Just do your best.

Speaking personally, I don't take any test until I'm getting 98% on the practice tests. Why leave it up to chance?

Also, there's a rumor out there that a portion of the MC questions on each test are "trial" questions that aren't scored. So there's really no way of knowing.

For me, I have passed four exams so far and the last one I took was SS which I am still waiting for results.
All other exams I have gotten around 75% on Kaplan/Ballast practice exams and still passed.

Thanks everyone - I guess it makes sense that this information wouldn't be disclosed.
I have the Kaplan and Ballast practice question sets for Structural.. are there any others that you would recommend? The Ballast and Kaplan are very different - which I guess is a good thing..

The ballast has a few good questions, by many are too technical, too math based. I would focus on the kaplan questions. Kaplan has a better mixture of concepts. Do the ARE-NCARB - structural systems practice test as well.

Seriously? That seems like an incredibly inefficient, detrimental use of your time.

If you can score around 70% on any of the Ballast practice exams on your first try, you can pass that actual exam. Spend the rest of your time studying things you don't already know the answer to.
