good you will not have something is difficult on the test.
but since you MUST know
the and is
I/(Sum(i) for each wall
Calculate the moment of inertia for each section of wall. Sum the I for all of the walls. The force in each portion is based on the I of the at section divided by the sum of the I of all of the sections.
You did not learn this in architecture? (just kidding)

Mike-SE, is it possible to look at it this way... piers 1+5 are the same width they would resist the same force and 2,3,4 are the same width and would also resist equal forces. Group 2,3,4 would resist a greater load because they are each wider. It may be A? Maybe

A does not sum to 10,000. Only the last two sum to 10,000. I will need to check some references to confirm the correct answer.

I'm probably too late with this, but I came across the equation that applies right before reading the question so here goes:
P1 = ((d1)^3/(d1^3+d2^3+d3^3....)) x Poverall

So for this example
Pforpier1and5 = (3^3/(3^3+4^3+4^3+4^3+3^3)) x 10000# = 1097.6
Pforpiers2-4 = (4^3/(3^3+4^3+4^3+4^3+3^3)) x 10000# = 2601.6

As Mike-SE pointed out, these should sum to 10000, and they do, but now the problem is that the correct answer doesn't seem to be one of your possible choices...?

That question was from the Kaplan guide, which was riddled with errors, most of which weren't picked up in their errata. Don't overthink it.
