Formula Memorization

Postby alleycatbabe » Sun Sep 15, 2013 9:44 am

I know you need to have an understanding of all the formulas used but how many of the formulas do you really need to memorize. Here's a list of just some of the ones I think (based on going through questions from both Kaplan & Ballast) I'll need to memorize.

All typical Max Shear
All typical Max Moment
All typical Max Deflection
Stress
Thermal Stress (both restrained & unrestrained)
Strain
Modulus of Elasticity
Moment of Inertia
Slenderness Ratio
Flexure (both wood, steel & concrete)
Wind Pressure
Chord Force
Lateral force/shear @ base
Seismic response Coefficient

Are there any more that are important to memorize? Are there some I could probably take off the list? Even this amount of straight memorization seems daunting.

Thanks.

Or rather, does anyone know what formulas will be provided in the AISC portions that will be provided for on the test. I unfortunately do not have access to it to look up.

I am starting at the earliest posts and have a lot of catching up to do, my study time got squashed for a few months and I am back at it. I found a link to this document, supposedly it is all the reference material that you get on the test.
