PASS! Ncarb speed record to report a score

Postby masteed » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:55 pm

Well if the blackout and the addition of "My Examination" means getting our test results in under a week, as happened with me, then that is certainly a welcome change in my mind!! Received an email today from NCARB "ARE Score Report Available" after only 4 business days. It was a nice big shiny blue "PASS"!! The score report itself sure looks much nicer graphically, but the information provided looks to be pretty much the same to me. Anyway, I will take the very quick news compared to what we are used to.

Once the AREForum is back up, you can see my recap from last week's test, I dont care to retype it. If you get the concepts down, you should be fine on this test. Highly recommend the Kaplan 500 and dont even worry so much about diving into that before you feel well-prepared. The Kaplan 500 will prepare you. Even if you arent clicking with the material after the first read-thru of Kaplan or Ballast, just dive into the practice questions. Practice as many questions as possible-- goes well with pretty much all of these ARE's but especially this one.

Congrats on the PASS! Great to hear. So, did you find that the actual test has similar difficulty to the Kaplan 500 questions? Any other studying recommendations. I have about a week and a half till I test.

i would say difficulty level is similar to Kaplan 500. maybe it was just because there's more questions but I thought the Kaplan 500 covered a wider range of subjects, and more detailed. Kaplan 500 also throws in plenty of those multi-step calc questions that you probably wont encounter on the test

as far as other study recommendations, how do you feel about your knowledge of the concepts? If you have the Nalsa flashcards those are extremely good, just keep going through those to reinforce concepts

i think i had about a 70%. your 55% isnt bad though-- do you have the nalsa/archiflash cards? i used the 3.1 version ones and they were far better than other flashcards and really good at drilling concepts home

Kaplan 500 is the Q+A Book... there are about 500 questions in it, depending on which version you have it may have 400 or 500+... it's know as Kaplan 500 on the forums.

You people are having much more success then me with the Kaplan 500. I'm embarrassed to say I'm getting about 40% right now. Doing 100 questions then reviewing. I'm only about 1/2 through. I have not done the all the reading yet though. I'm reading from Ballast on the train to work then doing questions when I get home.

Congrats on your pass and wish me luck. I'm going to need it.
