Good Morning!
There is a thread on the ARE Forum about the beams supporting upper walls. I just have two questions:
--The beam over the west wall of the entry is there to support the upper wall. I thought this was not necessary on perimeter walls.
--No beam in the southwest common area over the secondary entrance/exit is recommended. How is this situation different from the west wall at the main entry?
This is the rule of thumb I want to go into the Exam with:
1. beams support upper walls when they are on the interior.
2. Beams are placed on the perimeter walls on the appropriate sides to support joists.
Thank you for all your help,
Maria
