2nd try. Can you review the column placement?

You need a column where beams meet perpendicularly. So, on the lower level, you need a colum where the beam at the west of the entry runs into the beams running east/west along the common area. I hope that makes sense. Also, I don't think you need a beam on the upper level east end of the common area since the joists are running the same way. But you DO need a column at each end of the upper level beams. Cantilevered beams aren't allowed.

locate columns at all corners of building and all ends of beams or beam to beam intersections. Start and stop beam at each column to avoid continuous beams. Look at Mikes and Jenny's notes for vignettes. Very straightforward if you follow their suggestions.
