Tips in the BL program:
Warnings
· Wall openings may be drawn only between circulation areas (including corridors). Circulation areas are indicated by a lighter hatched background.
· Be sure that the walls of adjacent circulation areas (including corridors) are opened by doors or wall openings.
· Remember that you cannot move elements from one floor to another

I think we all agree on this:
"Open Lounge Area" (one of the terms used in Dorf's book)
not much discussion here:

I created some diagrams based on the NCARB 3.1 BL I just completed. I swapped Children’s Reading Room into a Open Lounge (OL)
Focus on the overall circulation and ignore other programs
If a programmed space is shown in yellow hatch, but you treat it like other rooms
It's a dead-end circulation space! clearly a fatal error!
A last minute quick dirty fix:
Use wall opening between the Lobby and the Open Lounge and add an exit door.
no more dead-end
But adding more exits are not ideal in BL...
a better approach would be moving a stair to the end...treat it like an extended area of the Lobby.
Right?
