IL-ALT #2_Attempt 1

This one definitely took me longer than an hour, but I decided to treat it as a case study for all of the questionable configurations I could think of just to get a passable attempt to throw up on the board. The two items I’m not sure about are below, but please let me know if you see any other errors.

1. Can a clear space overlap a door swing? Even if the door is clear of the furniture when open? (see Copy Room and Copier in front of the door)

INTERIOR LAYOUT VIGNETTE – ALTERNATE #2

1. Reception/Business Office (RBO)
Clear view of Suite's main entrance from a secretarial desk
The only space to be used for circulation and all rooms must have direct access to it.
Furniture
2 secretary desks
1 work table
2 lounge chairs
1 round coffee table
3 lateral file cabinets

2. File Room (JO)
Direct access to Lunch Room (LCR)
Furniture
20 file cabinets (lateral OR vertical file)

3. Staff Office (SO)
Must have an exterior window
Furniture
1 executive desk
2 lateral files (alt furniture file: 1 lateral file, 1 vertical file)
2 arm chairs
1 square coffee table
1 large bookcase

4. Lunch Room (LCR)
Must have exterior window
Furniture
3 tables for 4

5. Copy Room (CR)
Furniture
1 copier
1 storage cabinet
1 small bookcase

- JO door should swing into JO (save yourself the trouble and use 20 vert files)
- NW chair of west T44 is inaccessible

Yes. Though NCARB has stated that the 60" turning circle should not overlap the doorswing.

Does the JO door have to swing into the JO or will it improve the layout? (If I try to attempt this beast again I will definitely use the vert files)

It is sound design logic. Walk around an office and try to find an office door that swings into the hallway...
