BL 4.0 - First Attempt

Postby teelee » Sun Apr 08, 2018 4:44 pm

It's a bit messy but here is my first try. It bothers me that my walls don't stack up and my corridors have too many jogs in them, but it's all working in NCARB world--right?

Other Questions:

1. Can I have both the GR and ST doors open onto the lobby? I assume the lobby is considered part of the circulation/egress path.
2. Are my TR's too awkward of a proportion?
3. I assume the door placement in the stairs need to make sense... (doors placed properly at the end of a landing). Or does NCARB only care if there are exits in the direction of egress?
4. Is there a need to add any extra doors to rooms that are not specifically stated in the program?
5. What about extra windows?

Thank you!

Why not?

I assume the lobby is considered part of the circulation/egress path.

No need to assume. It's stated in the program.

2. Are my TR's too awkward of a proportion?

What's wrong with them?

3. I assume the door placement in the stairs need to make sense... (doors placed properly at the end of a landing).

Keep doors at corners and you're fine.

4. Is there a need to add any extra doors to rooms that are not specifically stated in the program?
5. What about extra windows?

Adding extra doors and windows can cause problems. Adding a door to improve proximity is fine, but be aware the if a room requires control, all doors from circulation into that room require control.

Missing wall opening.
No main entry.
Why does GR have an interior window?
TS/MP distance unacceptable.
MP doors to circulation must swing out.
LR/MP connections missing.
SO/AO door conflict.
EM should be on first floor.
Why does SM have 2 doors?

Thanks, Coach! One comment I don't understand:

SO/AO door conflict.

What do you mean?

CO/SO door can swing beyond 90 degree which block SO/AO entrance
