NCARB 4.0 BL

Postby fare75 » Sat Mar 31, 2018 8:19 am

NCARB 4.0 Building Layout first attempt.
All comments are welcome.

Question: are there any specific requirements for the window width? Can I simply draw a single long window?

I recommend eyeballing 4' to 10' segments in quantities proportional to room size.

No visual control.
TS proportions very weak.
CR/MP distance poor.
SO/LM distance poor.
SW window missing.

Relatively simple changes could eliminate corridor exit and improve solution.

Thanks Coach. Your comments are always helpful.
Made some changes to my layout

L1:
TS proportion
East corridor / stair to eliminate exit door
Add Reception interior window for visual control (does that work for CR?)
MP door closer to CR

L2
moved SO closer to LM (SM is now further away. I adjusted door location make SM and LM closer...)
add missing SW exterior windows

Thanks.
Door location does solve a lot of proximity problem :D

Question:

Would adding an interior window on R and CR partition wall satisfy the visual control requirement?

Yes, but you can't see the door. Moving door east solves that problem and proximity to MP.

Coach,
If the entry door to the CR is moved east how do you maintain control without a window? Is it really necessary? Everything I have read said "near" was defined as 1/2 corridor length OR same wing. So the If so, the CR door would not need to be across from MP.

Thoughts?

There is a window. If there wasn't there would be no control.

In the current location control is questionable. Moving door east improves control and proximity to MP.

We don't know exact parameters. You should always look for improvements.

At least we know they must be at the same floor
