BL 2nd Attempt - Testing Tomorrow

Postby DTH » Sun Oct 29, 2017 6:31 pm

Hello All,

To accompany my Interior Layout topic, please see below for my second pass on the Building Layout solution from NCARB's program.

Felt like I should make a separate topic for the Building Layout. As always, any and all feedback is welcome.

Avoid L-shaped rooms.
Logically EE should be adjacent to E....certainly not on opposite sides of the building.

Hi DTH, you are probably on your way to the test now but I wanted to point out one critical thing.

You are using corridor elements along your lobby in order to connect your 3 smaller rooms! according to NCARB exam guide Aug 2015 (I downloaded it today). My understanding of the code below is that those rooms could be accessed from the lobby directly without adding corridor paths around the lobby...

Copied from the exam guide's BL code page:

Definiitions
2. Circulation area: A lobby or a space designated
as an “area.”

Existing Requirements
2. Every room shall connect directly to a corridor or
circulation area.

If I am not correct on this someone please reply

A lobby is a circulation area.
