IL - Alt 4 & 5 - Testing next Monday

Postby majin » Fri Oct 27, 2017 4:41 pm

Hello everyone,

I'd appreciate it if you could look at attached alt#4 and 5. They are not the most ideal layouts, but I want to know for sure that they would be passing solutions. Please point out to any details that would trigger fail/significant deductions if you see any. Thank you in advance!

SO: Your worktable clearance needs 60" (like copymachines) according to some sources
SO: The floating chair in middle is not ideal, although it seems to have proper clearance around it.

You have so much space left over in your RBO and JO which is causing the SO to lack space for the worktables (if Im correct about their clearance)

ALT5:

It looks pretty good besides the point about worktable clearance (refer to NCARB's vignette program and code notes).

Your copy room 3' clear path is interrupted by the open door... I think that could be a problem -- you have plenty of room in RBO to move your wall north and reconfigure this room so the door swing doesn't cut into that niche.

borrow area from rooms that have more area than they need during the final adjustments.

Worktables and copy machines only need 36" clear.
There is nothing in the NCARB program or code that states that any piece of furniture requires more than 36" clear.

thanks for clarifying that. Another user and I thought Copier and Worktable had special clearances based on non-NCARB source... probably Ballast Review

I don't see 60" turnaround in LCR on Alt 5. Might be able to fit it but it looks tight...turnaround can't overlap door swings.

Ballast and Kaplan are worse than useless for the vignettes... they are misleading. Avoid at all costs.
