If that door wasn't there and both sides of that corridor was let's say an apartment unit (or elevators), it would be okay as the corridor is not longer than 20 feet.

Sorry, I forgot to specify that the door shown leads to a closed room, on level 2, for example. The only way to exit is to turn around at the end of the corridor. So my question is really asking, is the 20'-0" max distance measured from the door to the "edge", or the "center", of the exit corridor?
