interior layout--hope to hear some suggestions

Postby cbridge » Sun Oct 13, 2013 11:22 am

The scheme is based on ARE's practice program. is this a pass? Does someone the Table for Four on the right side work? Seems that ARE's passing solution has a little bit twisted one. Don't quite understand what's it for Many thanks. First time here, hope to hear some suggestions.

RBO:
-Conflict with arm chairs; one cannot encroach on the clear space in front of the other. Imagine sitting in one of those chairs; your knees would be hitting the person next to you.
-Make sure you have proper push-side clearance for doors into SO and LCR. It looks like the file cabinet is too close.
-Work table location is not ideal.

LCR:
-Make sure that there is a 36" clear path of travel around both long sides and at least one short side of the table.

JO:
-Room proportions are not ideal.
-Table for four does not work. Think of it this way: there always has to be a 36" clear path to each chair, as well as a minimum 36" clear from the edge of the table to the wall behind each chair. Try dragging the 36" sketch circle through the room to check.

These are good resources to review:

I see a few issues here:

General:
1. Try to avoid the "L" shaped rooms. Its a nice design feature the way you have the credenza recessed, however I would attempt to avoid. Recessing too many walls may get you cornered into a designers block. Keep it simple!
2. Show ADA clearances-Push and pull sides on each door. I see a few areas where you have ADA clearance issues with furniture. Specifically, the pushside clearance going into the LCR and the file cabinet in RBO.

SO:
1. Executive desk clearance too tight with north wall
2. Program calls for 1 small bookcase, you show 2
3. Chairs south of the Executive desk do not work for clearance.
LCR:
1. Clearance looks a bit tight to the south of the conference table.
JO:
1.Table for 4 does not work.
RBO
1. Worktable needs clearance
2. Arm chair/table configuration too tight.
3. You have the space, just analyze the furniture layout to be a bit more efficient.
CR:
1.Watch the clearance in front of the copy machine and the storage cabinet.

Good Luck! See my attachment.. This is a great reference!

There's no reason to avoid L-shapes in IL.

SO:
1. Executive desk clearance too tight with north wall

Nope.

3. Chairs south of the Executive desk do not work for clearance.

They're fine.
