Ramp Vignette - A question about switchbacks

Postby krissmZ » Sat Mar 03, 2018 11:35 am

I know this is probably considered a serious over build, but I wanted to practice switchbacks. Is there any other way to make the switchbacks more efficient for this solution? Since the landings would all need to be 5' min in direction of travel, I just made all of the ramps 5' wide

Besides it being overbuilt, are there any other issues that you see?

Are my stairs sized at 44" wide correct with clearance at base?

I didn't include a railing on the first 5' of ramp on the wall side since it is less than 6" rise. Is this correct? Or should I include to be safe?

Any other feedback is appreciated.

Isn't that code minimum?

with clearance at base?

Is distance from end of west rail to north wall at least as wide as overall stair?

It's fine.

Delete gap between 5 & 30.
More risers than necessary.
5" landing requires a clear turning circle.
