On the roof vignette, the program states:
- The roof and structural assembly is a total of 18 inches thick.
- The exhibition room is to have a horizontal clerestory window 24 inches in height located in the existing west wall.
- The clerestory sill is included in the overall height dimension.
When setting the height of the upper story roof, how much should one calculate? The 24" for the clerestory and 18" for the roof structure need to be accommodated, but does it matter how high we place the upper roof as long as it remains above the lower roof? In the NCARB 4.0 Solution they put the upper roof at 19'0". If you only calculate the 3'6" for the window and structure then your upper roof eave would end up at 17'6" (14'0" + 3'6"). Is that an acceptable height for the lower portion of the upper story roof?
Thanks.
