Stair Vignette First Try

Postby rarchll » Thu Jan 18, 2018 9:28 pm

Hi All,

Any feedback is greatly appreciated on my first attempt at the stair vignette below. I did put an additional landing before the janitors closet to allow for the 12" door clearance. Thank you!

I'm confused... is it okay in this program to draw a landing next to another landing as long as they're at the same elevation? That's the only way I can see doing non-rectangular shapes without oversizing the landing.

And since I'm here: railings can't encroach 4" on the 12" at the janitor's door, or at the 60" on the second floor, correct?

Of course.

Rail mounted on door wall may encroach.

Thanks. I had the hardest time understanding this but I think I know why now. The encroachment on the same wall would be a handrail only, while the encroachment of the rail on the landing edge opposite the door (like at the second floor landing) is actually a guardrail and/or handrail. Guardrails don't qualify for the 4" encroachment.
