Postby bovannu01 » Wed Dec 13, 2017 6:32 pm

Hey guys,

I have a few questions attached in the image below. please help.

1. Is it OK for the handrail to encroach into the landing clearance in front of door?

2. I know the landing should be 5x5. but one of my landing is 5x4'9". is that ok?

Thanks!

Your landing clearance needs to match the stair... it's not necessarily 5' unless that's what you made it. The stair width in the program (based on Area of Refuge) is 4'8", including handrails.
The handrail cannot encroach into the Door Clearance, which it doesn't look like you have drawn. It's also based on the rule that door swing cannot reduce landing to more than half it's width.

The landing should match the width of the stair.

Thanks!

No reason not to make tread depth 11".

Tread Depth should be 11".

Stair width should be 48+4+4 = 4'-8"
