Ramp length

Postby alenb » Sat Dec 09, 2017 1:45 pm

In order to comply with ADA: the front stoop is 4 feet above the sidewalk. What would be the min. Total length of run (in feet) needed for locating and entrance ramp at the stoop?

Their answer is 48feet.

I say this is wrong it shall be 63feet explanation is below:
- top landing = 5 feet
- 1st ramp run = 30 feet
- mid landing = 5 feet
- 2nd ramp run = 18 feet
- bottom landing = 5 feet
Total ramp length = 63 feet
You have to add all landings in a ramp run please let me know if you agree or dasagree.

The question is asking for length of run only.

Ok coach, but they should add at least one landing after 30 foot of run since it would be considered part of the run correct?Than the answer would be 53 feet (48 feet if run including 5 foot of the run landing)

what if they did not use the word "run" only let's say: how long an appropriate ramp has to be. Wouldn't you say than we need to add all landings to the run?

There are too many variables to ask for total ramp length. All the question wants to know is if you know what max slope is.
