Coach- Question re: Stair Width & Alt

Postby ramizkhoda » Tue Nov 07, 2017 11:09 am

Coach- Practiced on the attached Alt and question is:

Can the width of the stair increase as you are going down? My upper level stair is 56" wide (48" clear) due to area of refuge and the landing/stair from the intermediate level down is 66" wide. My treads are 11" and risers are 6" (I know this is inefficient-I will practice with 7" next time).

Will the attached alt solution pass or fail?

Alt requirements were:
-Upper level 320 occupants (2 exits)
-Intermediate level 440 occupants (2 exits)
-All levels require an area of refuge (1 per 200 occupants)
-Allowable egress per occupant is 0.3.
-Minimum head height 6'-8"

Yes.

Rails at southwest of 3-0 landing must be clear of CFA.
