ramp vignette question and first try

Postby shnicky » Fri Aug 04, 2017 12:06 pm

This is my first try at the ncarb ramp vignette. Please review and comment. Question: the NCARB passing solution shows the handrail breaking at the 3" high landing. Would the handrail need to be continuous on the inside corner or are they breaking the handrail because 1) it is only 3" high, or 2) because the adjacent ramp acts as a pseudo guardrail? Or... am I correct to continue it since there is a change in level/possible tripping hazard between the 3" landing and the adjacent ramps?
Thanks!

I watched Coach's video on the ramp vignette. You do not have to continue the railing at the landings. The railing will extend 12" onto each landing from the down and up ramps but it doesn't have to continue all the way. The 3" landing will be the same as the other two you've drawn.

Where's the new door?
Egress narrows at base of stair.

Thanks, Coach! Just watched the video and the egress narrowing comment makes sense. The exit door is there, just got cut off of my print screen.
