Use cut stairs. If you're not going to, entire solution must be on 2nd floor.
Stair is too narrow.

I made the stair 48" wide. How is that too narrow?

It must be 48" clear between handrails. The stair must be wider than 48" to fit the handrails and the space to grab around them (which comes out to an additional 4" max on each side)

stair (600x80).jpg

According to the code for the stair vignette the width of the stair only needs to be 44" and handrails can project into that width.

I would love additional commentary on the width issue as well- I received the same "too narrow" comment.

I did read the whole code before I wrote the last post. I don't see anything in there where it says the handrails can't encroach in the width of the stairwells or that they need to be 48" wide. This forum used to be a lot more helpful before everyone got so vague and moody with their responses....

You're the only one getting moody.
We won't be with you when you the the exam. You must read and comprehend the entire code. It's not very long.

Read till the very end of the code section where it says about Area of Refuge.
