2nd Test Attempt - Feedback PLEASE!

Postby stubscook » Mon Oct 02, 2017 10:18 pm

Hi!
So, I failed the vignette when I took the exam a while back. No clue why.
I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

A walk crossing a drive is not continuous as required and is a safety error.
Why is there a deciduous tree at the SW corner of the restaurant?
Don't allow new coniferous trees to block any of the view of the pond from the restaurant.

The NCARB guide shows this condition on the "passing solution" vignette. Personally I completely agree and in reality I wouldn't design this parking lot this way, but I'm trying to jump through the right hoops to pass. Also this solution had less paved area than one where the drive runs along the east side of the restaurant, which I think may have contributed to me failing the vignette portion of the exam.

My thoughts were screening from the PP.

Yeah, the one just south of the walk from the PP was in question.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

NCARB passing examples contain errors. See pg 26 of the ARE 4.0 Guidelines. Repeating their mistakes is not recommended. ;)

reality vs. what NCARB wants you to do.

No need for the berm.
Use sketch lines to check the minimum slope

Ah, on the east side...gotcha.
And I did check the minimum slopes with sketch lines, as you suggested in another post. :D

Thank you!
