Failed SPD twice

Postby toshea13 » Wed Jul 19, 2017 8:00 am

Hi!

I took SPD twice and failed :(. The first time, I studied the norm (Ballast/Kaplan, AEP, etc.) but I was also getting married a week later so I wasn't too focused. The second time around I got really into study mode, did every practice test out there but failed. I had 12 (I actually counted) building commissioning questions.

Does anyone have any recommendations about where I can find info building commissioning?

I also failed SPD awhile back. When I retook it, I added Ballast and also Building Construction Illustrated into my study material mix.

I don't recall getting questions on Cx (Building Commisioning). But 12...wow.

I found this link that may be helpful to you:
https://www.gsa.gov/graphics/pbs/BCG_3_ ... 34K-pR.pdf

HOWEVER, by looking at the reference material provided by NCARB for the SPD exam, you will find information about Cx in "Mechanical & Electrical Equipment for Buildings" by Walter T. Grondzik, Alison G. Kwok, Ben Stein and John S. Reynolds
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Elect ... 0470195657

That is literally where they would most likely pull questions on the exam.

Hope this helps.

I know it's frustrating....you go in knowing so much information and then the exam ends up being on completely new material.....i feel ya......

I had a large number of Building Commissioning questions on my CD exam recently. Thankfully I had read through this website: https://www.wbdg.org/building-commissioning and I managed a pass. It may be tedious to read through, but I recommend it.
