Site Design - First Attempt

Postby gibiwan » Sat Jul 08, 2017 7:57 am

I would love some feedback on the attached vignette. I feel like there are a lot of areas to overlook and I want to make sure I am covering everything.

Is the assumption that deciduous trees don't block your view? When the program states that the Restaurant needs views of the pond, does that mean from the main entrance? Also, do deciduous trees not block prevailing wind, only coniferous?

Thank you!

Hi!
I'm also studying for this exam now.
Correct, deciduous trees are assumed to not block a person's view.

Reviewing other successful vignettes, I believe the restaurant just needs a portion of the building to view the pond...not necessarily the main entrance.

Correct, only coniferous trees are assumed to block vision and wind in this exercise.

Review:
I would avoid connecting the restaurant to the plaza with a sidewalk intersected by a street. The rules say to connect the program with a continuous walkway system. I doubt a road would fall under this category.

Good luck!

Thanks for the note about the continuous walkway. I had not thought about that!
