general SPD vignette questions

Postby aiwan » Tue May 23, 2017 11:56 pm

Hi,

I have a few questions about the details in the site planning vignette if @Sparky83 or @Coach can chime in? thanks!

1. if deciduous trees can be planted on plaza, do they take away from the total sq. footage?
2. can trees be planted at the setback areas?
3. can walkways serve as both the separators between parking/driveway and buildings? (meaning they can hug the building)?
4. can plazas also hug the building?
5. can trees overlap?
6. can existing deciduous trees remain undisturbed if they land on the plaza area?
7. i'm assuming that walkways are enough for the main entries (despite the lack of the protruded box for the entry)?
8. for the service - what is the general rule of thumb in terms of access? can it be a part of the access into the parking or need to be an offshoot from the main driveway?
9. for the service - is it enough to touch the service entry's protruded box, in terms of access?

thank you!! :geek:

1. if deciduous trees can be planted on plaza, do they take away from the total sq. footage? No. See the tree diagram.
2. can trees be planted at the setback areas? Not recommended.
3. can walkways serve as both the separators between parking/driveway and buildings? (meaning they can hug the building)? There is no required offset between walks and building, but the real test program can vary.
4. can plazas also hug the building? See #3.
5. can trees overlap? Yes.
6. can existing deciduous trees remain undisturbed if they land on the plaza area? No. Use the check function.
7. i'm assuming that walkways are enough for the main entries (despite the lack of the protruded box for the entry)? ???
8. for the service - what is the general rule of thumb in terms of access? can it be a part of the access into the parking or need to be an offshoot from the main driveway? Must be a separate drive. Service vehicles cannot block a driveway.
9. for the service - is it enough to touch the service entry's protruded box, in terms of access? Overlap assures contact, but you still have a 5' building setback. The building is blue.

thank you!! :geek:

1. if deciduous trees can be planted on plaza, do they take away from the total sq. footage? No. See the tree diagram. ok
2. can trees be planted at the setback areas? Not recommended. ok
3. can walkways serve as both the separators between parking/driveway and buildings? (meaning they can hug the building)? There is no required offset between walks and building, but the real test program can vary. ok
4. can plazas also hug the building? See #3.
5. can trees overlap? Yes. and if there are a row of new deciduous trees, can people still walk through to the two halves of the plaza?
6. can existing deciduous trees remain undisturbed if they land on the plaza area?
(double blue lines that is?)

one more question - any restrictions on the form of the plaza? as in, can the plaza be oddly shaped to avoid internal existing trees?

thank you!!

one more question - any restrictions on the form of the plaza? as in, can the plaza be oddly shaped to avoid internal existing trees? Yes, shape does not matter.

thank you!!

ALWAYS read EVERY part of the program. It's all there for your benefit. Skip one part and you risk a fail. Not worth it.
