I felt confident that if you have a multiple story building you must account for all the occupants above and add to the egress widths for the lower floors but would like to get some clarification. The section from the code doesn't clarifying that floor 5 must include floor 6 and 7 occupants and that floor 3 should include 4,5,6,7 and so on... unless that is what intermediate level is meaning (not in the definitions). Just want to be totally clear on this. It seems logical to keep adding the load above...

1004.5 Egress convergence.
Where means of egress from floors above and below converge at an intermediate level, the capacity of the means of egress from the point of convergence shall not be less than the sum of the two floors.

Egress width is based on the largest floor; however, when the exit level has floors above AND below, you must add the ascending and descenfding loads together to determine required width on the exit level.
