Ballast Practice Exam #37)

In the terminology of Kevin Lynch's 1960 book, The Image of the City, an area that is perceived as a symbol of a part of a city is a

a) node
b) landmark
c) district
d) core

the answer: d - core

Kevin Lynch described the image of the city as five element: paths, edges, district, node, landmark. In what way can "core" be an answer? Mr. Lynch didn't mention core as the part of elements... wth... Can someone explain?

That is crazy! That would be the answer I would cross off right away, as it was never mentioned in any materials (except maybe his book???). Now we know, I guess!
