Vignette questions

Please see attached images of my vignette. Do you need to close the polyline of the building profile? How important is it to have the line meet the grade and stay within the 30 degree line (would I fail with the line protruding past it slightly)? Also does the 30 degree line need to be exact? Like do you need to do trigonometry to create a perfect 30 degree triangle and then draw the line from that? Let me know if anything is wrong or if my sketch items aren't required. Thanks.

You should definitely watch NCARB's vignette video, because it addresses these questions and more, but regarding you specific questions:

1. Do not close the polyline.

2. Bring the ends of the envelope lines just below grade.

3. The software has tolerances for all dimensions and angles. The line you show is fine.

I would suggest using more sketch circles to create your curved area, but again, there are tolerances built into the software.

Thanks for the reply man. You are right. I should have just watched the vimeo video.

Well, it's not really obvious, given how NCARB doesn't supply consistently useful information!

Just want to add here for others since a good google search turned up nothing that the ARE 3.1 and 4.0 vignettes for PPP are exactly the same. I kept copying the 3.1 file over and it kept showing 4.0 and I thought I was going crazy.

There was a difference when it came to the exam. Some exam questions didn't have a contour line at the end of the cut. This required interpolation of points, which I'm told was pretty vague.
