PPP Vignette - Over or Under Better?

Postby sche5238 » Fri Aug 25, 2017 11:38 am

First timed attempt at PPP vignette, had 44 seconds to spare! I found the grade line difficult to deal with, kept losing my place when determining the elevations. Turned grid view on and that helped to identify elevations between the 10' intervals shown. I do have a question though, NCARB's passing example doesn't show that many circles to offset the water line. I read online that I should use a lot to make sure my offset is as accurate as possible but does anyone know if it is better to be slightly above the line (as in first screen shot) or slightly below (as in second screen shot)? I assume slightly below based on the restriction that you can't be within 25'-0" of the line. Any other opinions out there?

You're going to have to interpolate tangentially to the circles in order to comply with the waterline setback.
Do not turn your plan areas up in between the circles... that would be violating the setback.
Technically, even your second image should be straightened out a bit.

Solution looks good.
