Sec of I's Standards for Historic Properties

Postby mlek77 » Mon Sep 30, 2013 12:50 pm

Hello,

Just taking my first look at the Secretary of the Interior's Standard for Treatment of Historic Properties- anyone out there have an opinion about how much detail we ought to study from this? i was thinking of getting familiar with the introduction and the key links for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing, but not going into specifics as far as materials go.

Any thoughts you have would be much appreciated!

I just took my last section yesterday (BDCS) and am now just waiting for my results. For me in general, I found it more beneficial to know a little bit of detail about a lot of different topics vs. a lot of detail for a smaller amount of topics. I think you are taking the right approach to Historic Preservation.

Agreed, the questions will likely be broad, conceptual questions about historic preservation. Who to refer to, what type of approaches would be appropriate. Nothing overly technical.
