Coach has graciously opened up a CASp Exam forum!

Anyone planning to take the CASp Exam this year? I'd like to take it in October but not sure where to start. I am however taking a DSA Academy access plan review class next week at the local DSA offices.

Let the access questions begin!

Guess I could start here:

Certified Access Specialist Program - Examination, Certification, and Practice Standards Handbook

This might be a dumb question, but what is the CASp exam? There's more to it than the CSE????

Will these exams ever end?????

Not a dumb question at all. The learning never ends in this business.

Here's the formal description:
A Certified Access Specialist (CASp) is a professional who has passed an examination and has been certified by the State of California to have specialized knowledge of the applicability of state and federal construction-related accessibility standards.

IMO, getting casp is redundant for an architect.

Yeah the fees are ridiculous. My firm is willing to pay for the fees and they see value in certification so that's a big reason. I work primarily on DSA projects.

The firm may want to check with insurance company first to see if it will expose you to more liability.

I know guys w/ CASP cert can go out and do AC check for some fees (on their own).
I am not sure you can by-pass Cont Ed w/ CASP cert every 2 yrs, and wd like to know.
