Just curious if anyone here is a Partner/Principal at your firm. How did you become a partner? Did you have to buy in?
I'd like to be a Partner some day and am wondering what the process is. Can someone be promoted to a partner for doing good work, bringing in clients, etc. Or do you have to wait until you have enough money to buy out another partner?
thanks.

All of the above/none of the above. Every firm is different.
In most firms, partnership will probably never happen. Architecture is not like law. Adding partners is not the culture in architecture and very few firms even have a policy or mechanism to do so.

The process is quite simple. You and a friend start your own firm. Boom! instant partner.
