How many level 2 and 3s cause a fail?

How many level 2 and 3s cause a fail?

Postby anonymous283 » Thu Jan 18, 2018 3:15 pm

Sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else, but I can't find it with numerous google search. I'm wondering how many level 2 and 3s are allowed for a passing grade. I failed CDS with level 1s in the vignette and content area 3 (53% of the test) and got level 2s in 3 minor content areas. I am just curious if you get even 1 level 2 do you fail?

I'm not sure how many level 2 or 3's you can have but I failed BDCS with a level 3 on ramp vignette and everything else (2 other vignette and MC) was level 1. *shrug*

It doesn't work that way. The levels given on the score report are just to give you an idea of how you did on the content areas. The exam is scored holistically.

I'll try to outline a hypothetical...

Division X with one vignette and 5 content areas (125 questions total).

Assumptions:
Min passing score is 70%.
Level 1 = 70%+
Level 2 = 60-69%
Level 3 < 60%
Vignette portion of score: 23%

Content area/Questions
1/24
2/8
3/44
4/12
5/37

Results:
Area/Correct/%/Level
1/15/62.5/2
2/3/37.5/3
3/31/70.5/1
4/9/75/1
5/26/70.3/1
---------------------------------
Total 84/67.2/2

Vignette score: 76/100 = Level 1

Recap
Written: 67.2 (.77) = 51.7%
Vignette: 76 (.23) = 17.5%
---------------------------------
Total 69.2% = Fail

You can come up with all kinds of passing and failing scenarios.

Like coach said, above, it doesn't really work that way, but with that said, I failed SPD the first time around with a single Level 2, and the rest level 1's. The don't tell you what you have if you pass. So best advice is to do your best, and not worry about how well you did in individual areas but how you did overall on the total exam. Then when you get your pass/fail you can study the areas you were weaker in.

Yep, I failed CDS PPP and SPD with one level 2 on each... Makes you wonder if its even worth it anymore
