Recently completed ARE's - NCARB transmittal time

Postby macjacket » Thu Apr 27, 2017 7:58 am

So I've been finished for two weeks now, just twiddling my thumbs waiting for NCARB to transmit everything to Georgia so I can get a license number. I finally called NCARB to see if there was anything else I needed to do, and the very unpleasant lady told me due to the number of people finishing the ARE's, there is a 45 day wait to transmit my record. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? Could it really be that hard to open a record and see that IDP & tests are complete? Are there really that many people completing ARE's that are bogging down the system this much? Does NCARB only have 1 person that reviews files? End of rant. But still frustrated.

Really? A record number of people are completing the AREs??? Perhaps...they do regulate all 50 states...but still - sounds a bit over the top.

I finished my last ARE on March 30 and i'm waiting for NCARB to send CAB (California Architects Board) my AXP record to make me eligible to take the California Exam.....they're not really fast at it as it's now April 27th and i'm still not eligible. You'd think it should be a no brainer....but it's apparently not. Who knows if have some long chain of command before something gets approved.

But in your case - at least you're done! Patience my friend - it's only a matter of time. Congrats on completing the whole process. It wasn't easy.

I got my last exam pass on March 27th and got my NYS license number today exactly 1 month from my last pass. NCARB transmitted my records within 1-1/2 weeks and New York state took 3 weeks to issue license number.

So I sent NCARB an email on April 7th asking them to send my record to CAB.
Today (April 28th), I received what very much looks like an auto-generated email in which my name is misspelled and the first word in the email is misspelled. WTF? They could have sent this to me immediately. Doesn't even say anything.

"You’re Record currently on the list for evaluation of your NCARB Record for Transmittal. This process may take up to 30 business days. A Customer Relations Specialist will get in contact with you via email, once the evaluation is complete."

That's a literal copy/paste from the email I received.

Can you comment on the exact steps that you had to take after you got your last pass? Did you then submit your application forms to NYS or was that something that you had already done?
Thanks in advance for your help.

NCARB automatically sent notice of my pass to Mississippi Board of Architecture within 24 hours. I got my paperwork from the state within 2 days... asking for a check of course.

Are you guys and gals maintaining your NCARB record even after your finish your AREs? Is there any point in paying the $75 renewal fee? Or I guess it's $225 once you get your license. What's the point of an NCARB certificate?? Any thoughts?

For me, i'm in California and i do not plan on getting licensed in any other state. And if i do, i guess i can just restart my NCARB record at a later date.

If i don't pay my renewal fee, will i still be able to log into my account?

i had completed all my paperwork before my last pass so after my last pass i called NCARB 2-3 times asking about the status of my record and once they transmitted my record to state, i called state 4 times asking about the status. :)

I believe if you have stayed current on your payments, your first year is free. After that, the $225 yearly cost allows you to get a reciprocal license in a state that allows reciprocity. Other than having the credentials, that would be my main reason for keeping the NCARB certification.
