Construction Observation Hours / CSI - CCCA exam

So I took my last exam this past Saturday and am waiting to hear if I am done with the 7 exams. If (and hopefully) I passed, I need to earn around 100 hours of construction observation to be able to take the California exam. I am observing construction with my structural Engineer, but at slower pace than I would like to, I really want to take the CA exam this year. Does anyone have any suggestions who has been in the same situation? And/or has taken the CSI CCCA exam before which gives 40 points?
Its a bit expensive to take that exam but I am wondering what is its difficulty level compared to the 7 exams?
