Running Alternates in NCARB Software

Running Alternates in NCARB Software

Postby Katie » Sat Dec 07, 2013 3:49 pm

Hello,

Has anyone had success running alternates in the NCARB's practice software? I've downloaded several alternates from here (http://www.ironwarrior.org/ARE/) and followed ironwarrier's instructions (http://ironwarrior.org/ARE/Site_Plannin ... CARBPP.pdf) but I think the software has changed since these were written. After following the instructions there was no change in the site design practice vignette that came up on screen.

If you've successfully run alternates, could you kindly post the instructions? I am running Windows XP Pro (I know, old school right) on the Windows side of a Macbook Pro using Bootcamp.

Thanks everyone!!

Hi Katie, the instructions you link to are actually accurate. I don't know that the software has changed since [I think] 2003 [the copywrite notice on the software splash screen]. You have to make sure that the alt is renamed the exact way that the base/original file was [and make sure to back up the base file]. I also read somewhere the DWGs have to be in R14 format [most are, but some alts you might find aren't]. Good luck!
